Sofonda and Joseph first met when Sofonda was performing at Windsor Pride. She sat on Joseph’s lap and thought, “Who’s this?” Joseph, who had friends performing in the show, recalls seeing Sofonda run out of the change room in face but wearing boy clothing. “He was cute,” says Sofonda. “She was talented and stood out from everybody,” says Joseph.
After the Windsor gig, the two kept in touch until Joseph moved to Toronto.
“It was a whirlwind romance,” Sofonda says with her trademark laugh. The romance did not last; however, these exes have stayed friends since their breakup. “We always trusted each other,” says Sofonda, who feels their loyalty to each other was a key ingredient in their ability to stay friends. “We have such a strong foundation,” says Joseph. “We have a better relationship not dating than some people do dating.”
They continue to work together on promoting and running their successful Dirty Sexy Party, which debuts in its new home at fly on Friday, Sept 2 with reality TV star turned pornstar Steven Daigle. “We’re North America’s biggest event for sexy guys who like dirty things,” Joseph says. “I leave all my inhibitions at the door,” Sofonda adds. Both are looking forward to launching the party in its new home with added features, including an art show. “We push the limit in getting people to be free; you get to be dirty and not be ashamed.” With filthy minds thinking so perfectly in tandem, how could these two not be friends?
