Together: Nathan and Chris - Five years

Nathan, a Pisces, and Chris, a Cancer, were brought together by a twist of fate. They somehow were added to each other’s MSN Messenger lists and to this day don’t remember doing it. When Chris got home one night and logged on, Nathan messaged him a quick “Hey!” Chris’s immediate response was, “Who the fuck are you?” They spent hours chatting. At the time, Nathan lived in Kitchener, so the next day a smitten and determined Chris drove there to meet him face to face. “We went to a movie, dinner, did some shopping and went for a walk,” Nathan says. “We ended up making out under a bridge by a river while the sun was setting. Very Hollywood.”

Chris says his first impression of Nathan was that he was “cute. He was in his work uniform.” Nathan says he first noticed Chris’s legs, which was followed by the thought, “Ugh, he smokes!” Nathan had a policy of not dating smokers, so Chris soon quit.

Chris says that what he likes most about Nathan is his randomness and admits his partner can sometimes have a short fuse. Nathan says he enjoys Chris’s spontaneity. “He does little gestures, which may not seem like a lot to some people, but to me it is,” says Nathan. What does Nathan dislike? “Sometimes it’s like living with a six-year-old,” he says with a laugh. So what exactly is the key to their five-year relationship? “Laughter,” says Nathan. “It eases tense situations.” Chris adds, “Communication.
We never go to bed mad.”
