The Toronto menswear landscape changed for the better in 2011, thanks to events like the launch of Moon at The Bay; the arrival of Topman at Yorkdale and Express at Fairview; and the panic over H&M’s collaboration with Versace, Todd Lynn’s pre-LG Fashion Week menswear show, and Jeremy Laing’s capsule collection for Adidas. We herald the arrival of new outlets for design talent and promotions like the Mercedes-Benz Start Up competition.
Fashion fanatics can look forward to some great things in the new year: the launch of Patrick Cox for Geox in late January; David Beckham’s Bodywear, set to be released at H&M on Valentine’s Day; and the Marni collection, out in March, also at H&M. It is going to be a fashionable 2012 right out of the gate, but before we start thinking that far ahead, we must usher out 2011 — and what better way to do it than with a fashionable party? If you want to head out somewhere but don’t know where, here are a few ideas to help you out.
NYE at Fuzion
For those who need some dinner before getting all hot and sweaty, it’s hard to beat Fuzion. They’ll start off your New Year’s celebration with a five-course dinner, which includes a glass of bubbly. Then you’ll get VIP passes to the second-floor party, where the music spins all night and the DJ takes requests. The whole event is $65 per person, not including taxes and gratuity. Reservations are required.

Naughty New Year’s at Flash
Spend a sexy evening at Flash’s annual New Year’s Eve event. Tickets are $10, which includes party favours and a midnight champagne toast. The action will take place on two floors, with two DJs, three stages of dancers, and a stellar light show.

Pitbull at the Phoenix
The guys who throw Pitbull have turned out great events for fuzzy guys (and their fans) all throughout 2011. For the New Year’s Eve Explosive edition they will bring fire to the dancefloor with DJs Shane Percy, Mark Falco, Dwayne Minard and B-Tech. It will be so crammed with hot guys you won’t be able to tell the difference between go-go boys and attendees.
Opening DJ B-Tech has been garnering a lot of attention on SoundCloud recently and has already caught the eye of a few record labels. I asked B-Tech (above) to step out from behind the decks to pose in some Peter Says Denim threads.
