Gaelen Patrick brings the Matinée Amazing Tour to Toronto

11.21.2011

“It’s the most hedonistic expression of love and partying, almost unspeakable to experience. Even what we produce pales in comparison to what it is in Spain. I wanted to bring that party here,” says fly’s general manager, Gaelen Patrick, of the Matinée Amazing Tour. Since its not-so-immaculate conception 14 years ago in Barcelona,  Matinée Group has become synonymous with sexy, inhibition-free nightlife that doesn’t stop when the sun comes up. All-star DJ Lydia Sanz, a born-and-bred Spaniard, headlines the Amazing Tour. Her co-conspirator in encouraging dance excessiveness is Toronto’s own Shawn Riker, with birthday boy Mike Vieira tricking on the Lounge turntables. “The reason it’s so important to gay public culture is that it breaks down the boundaries between straight and gay. It’s just pure sexually energized partying where everybody’s having fun,” says Patrick. Coincidentally, 14 years ago, Viagra also hit the market. But there’s no need for chemicals to turn you on when the dancefloor fills with sweaty shirtless men jumping to the beat.

Matinée Amazing Tour is Sat, Nov 26 at fly nightclub, 8 Gloucester St. flynightclub.com

Once again, you've come up with some great ideas for fun and ectdauional activities for the kids. I specifically enjoyed your description of David at the National Museum. I've seen it in person but it was nice to see him through your eyes. At Lin's suggestion, the family headed down to the arts festival at Clarke Quay. It was a great way to spend a leisurely hour.I have now added your site to my yahoo homepage.
