A closeted young Christian documents his world

When a very young Christian named Greg Reynolds was given a Pentax 35mm camera in 1978, he began to document his friends, loved ones and life as a staff member of an inter-college religious organization. After grappling with his sexuality for years, mostly staying completely closeted and fighting against his desires, he finally left Christian ministry in order to come out.

Years later he uncovered the pictures he'd taken during these years, explaining, "The camera allowed me to say in pictures what I could not say in words."

The pictures are colourful and evocative, despite Reynolds' not having any formal photographic training. They tell the story of a young Christian man trapped, wordlessly expressing his human desires. "Although I wanted to see non-Christians accept Christ as their saviour, I really wanted a great sun tan that I could take back north with me."
